About trentsidetraveller

A lifelong public transport user, enthusiast and occasional photographer. My travels take me around the country, occasionally overseas, but my most frequent journeys see me cross the River Trent on a regular basis. So the moniker of Trentside Traveller came about, and now I'm blogging about my travels, and the latest changes to public transport in the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire area.

  1. I would expect NCT are streamlining the purples into the 87/88 running every 15 minutes each so the 87/88/89 run approx 3-4 minutes up to Edwards Lane.

  2. The 15/16 87/89 are receiving Solos, they will be boosted to every 7/8 minutes to counteract the reduction in capacity.

Whats interesting its the 80/80X/81, I believe this is an error as that went west ages ago, most likely its the change to Go2 68/69 and N6’X’

    • But are the 80,81 coming back? These are the old numbers of the “bulwell main line” same route but via radford road instead of sherwood rise (before the tram came)
My guess is the new Yellow go2 will replace the 68/69 & renumbered into the historic 74 to fit in with the other yellows 70-73. With changes to the tram contract soon are NCT getting ready to be the replacement yourbus y81 service running alongside the tram?

      • I only just got the point being made here…
I have just seen the tram publicity leaflet, which confirms that Wellglage are the preferred bidder for routes 1,2 and 3. Whilst I have nothing against Wellglede per se, this decision could lead to fragmentation if the through ticketing is not thought out well enough. There will be enough cross town travellers, who would presently use an easyridere / citycard / NCT day ticket who if prevented from using it on the tram, would probably leave enough usage to provide a duplicate bus service to the tram. The lack of this duplication up to this point has in my view been a major factor in the Nottingham tram’s success. TB and YB couldn’t make competing with the tram work simply because there was no compelling reason to use the bus service over the tram.

  3. Just seen the first solo SR on an 11 odd looking bus. Still not as bad as the omnitown I am currently on. They must be NCT’s most uncomfortable now.

  4. More sightings. Dart back on y36. I wonder if is just a substitution, or if they are throwing extras at peak times. The pickings must be getting rather thin for both operators on this route.
