Nottingham City Transport September 2012 Service Changes

It has become a custom that NCT revise much of their network during September. 2012 is no exception. In the past few years the revision has been used to introduce new vehicles, augment the Go2 brand (and in one case remove a service from it), renumber existing services where changes have been made the existing numbering illogical, reduce some “marginal” journeys but in particular make minor changes to compensate for traffic and usage patterns.

The 2012 changes, as registered so far, which mainly commence 3rd September 2012 are:

New Registrations:

  • N34 – New service. City – Beeston Bus Station, hourly night bus, Monday – Saturday.
  • N4 – New Service. City – NTU campus, hourly night bus, Monday – Saturday.

Cancellations:

  • N1 City – Clifton Green, hourly night bus, Monday – Saturday.

Changes to route & Timetable:

  • 6/6A
  • 10/10A/10X

Changes to timetable:

  • 1/1A
  • 4
  • 5/5A/7
  • 17/74
  • 34
  • 35/35A/35B
  • 37
  • 43
  • 44
  • 48
  • 56/59
  • 76/78
  • 79/79A/79A
  • 89
  • 100/26/26C

Despite some of the illogical groupings of registrations, there seems to be alterations to a significant portion of the NCT network. Unless timetables are recast in a very significant way, however, there probably isn’t much of huge significance here. No new services, significant cancellations or regrouping of services.

In addition Yourbus have also registered the following – interestingly from 2nd September – the day before the NCT changes.

  • Y34 (City, University of Nottingham Campus, Beeston Night service) – Cancelled.
  • Y36 Timetable changes.

This suggests that the night service changes are the most significant element of these changes. I suspect both operators are looking long and hard at the viability of the intensity of night services on this corridor. N1 being replaced by N4 seems to be a minor route and timetable change.

  1. What are the alterations being made to the abysmal 79/79A services from Rise Park to Nottingham. These buses are invariably late from 2 to 3 minutes to 5 to 10 minutes
